The Kenny Williams Story

Here’s the piece I wrote about Kenny Williams, GM of the Chicago White Sox. This should go well with the story I wrote about Jim Thome, which will run in next week’s issue of Sports Illustrated.

If eventually you become just a well respected sports writer for a major publication, who periodically writes books that I buy even though I rarely buy sports books, then it was all quite thrilling while it lasted. If this community who loves you devolves into silly people saying silly things, well…it has been quite wonderful, and thank you for creating a place where I actually love the comments, and have commented many times, though I am not a commenter.

Baseball needs more Kenny Williams. There just seems to be too many in MLB with too much to say with so little to back it up.

    More action. Less talk.

You write so beautifully, Joe. Thank you for your work, and good luck with the new digs.

Is this going to be in the magazine or online only?

  6. Joe: Please stop making White Sox personnel seem empathetic and likable. You’re ruining my whole good vs. evil dichotomy. Signed, a Twins fan.
