PosCast Stories: Bob Costas

Talked with Bob Costas a bit about storytelling, Vin Scully, Mark McGwire and — this was killer — Anthony Quinn. Really fun.

Already putting together next week’s PosCast stories with my friend Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. These things are fun. Not sure how long I can keep coming up with them, but hoping it can last a while. And still planning to do the real PosCast with Michael once a month.

Oh, in case you don’t want to just listen to Costas here, let me give you some links:

A – I see what you did there!

And B – This poscast was fantastic and very enjoyable. I wish it was 3 hours long

Loved hearing the baseball announcing stories and Vin Scully. Would network be brave enough to let somebody like Costas or Jon Miller attempt to do an “uncluttered” broadcast? I would love to see if it worked with some of the other talented broadcasters.

  3. Charlie B says:

Used to love listening to Costas Coast to Coast back in the 90s. Might have to make this my first Podcast.

I hate to say it, but Bob Costas peaked out with his association with the ABA and the stories that ensued(see Loose Balls). To me, it was a very, very high peak.

    Loved this conversation.

    Baseball 100?

  6. Marc Schneider says:

Costas might be funny but I am not a big fan of the interviews he does on MLB Network. It seems as if, like many sports journalists, he tries to put the words he wants the interviewee to say in their mouths. I think he is actually better at sports, other than baseball, where he does not seem to have a proprietary interest.

  7. Reagan says:

    Great interview.
