Circle me, Cy Young winner
When are you going to post my awesome snuggie picture, or do I have to send you more?
will royals scratch zack if he gets one more win?
Real question: Its obvious that the Royals aren’t one or two people away from a championship (or even pretending to contend). Shouldn’t they trade the most valuable pitcher in baseball with perhaps the best contract after this season for a handful of great prospects?
Bonus question: Assuming this happens, how successful do the new Royals have to be to regain the fanbase that will be completely pissed and leave?
Assuming neither wins their respective award, who is the bigger snub: Joe Mauer or Zack Grienke?
Good question, I personally think Greinke would be the bigger snub. Maybe because you could argue he’s deserving of the MVP award as well…that at least the Cy Young should be given to him as a consolation prize.
Do you think that Greinke needs to pitch very well tonight (7 plus innings less then 2 runs allowed)?
I think Joe’s correct in that he should win but that doesn’t mean he will. I think a shutout against the Sox will help nail it down with voters who focus on wins.
do we have a quote from Zack on how he feels about the CY? Is it something he’s gunning for and will he be pissed if he doesn’t win?
i’m sure most quotes, if any, are the garden-variety baseball cliches (“I don’t worry about awards, I just try to give my team a chance to win”, etc) but I sure as hell hope he’s secretly gunning for it. Guys on teams like KC could always use added motivation other than “let’s not finish in last place.”
Someone I talked to today seriously said if he had a vote, he’d pick Scott Feldman over Grienke. I find this interesting, seeing as how I haven’t hard that from anyone ever. In fact, I had to look up and make sure Feldman was on the Rangers and not the Angels. Hmm.
What are the chances that ESPN is feeding it’s analysts the “Red Sox/Yankees” line in regards to Greinke’s performance in hopes that it will create the perception of a race between him and Hernabathalladay. John Kruk (who is largely meatheaded in his commentary) has been a mild proponent of Greinke thus far… until today when he started spouting off the Peter Gammons line about playing well against the AL East. Sigh.
Why do you think Keith Law hates “The Catcher in the Rye”?
It’s certainly no Joe Blog, but I’m doing a live blog of tonight’s game too, feel free to check it out if Joe doesn’t get to live bog the game tonight:

You haven’t spoken much about the struggles of the likes of Hosmer and Moustakas in their stints in low and high A ball. Do you think there is reason for Royals’ fans to be concerned or is it just a pair of prospects hiccuping in pitcher-friendly environs?
