I was spinnin’ down a dead dial …

You know how when you’re a kid, and your parents will tell you something like: “My only wish is that someday you will have a child who is acting exactly as you are acting right now?”
That very thing happens to most people … and I suppose we call it justice.
So, I suppose it’s fitting that after months and months of shamelessly promoting The Machine on this Web site — Card tricks! DVD extras! Contests! Polls! — I’m in the midst of a week where I will probably end up doing, well, a billion jillion shmillion radio appearances. I have said already said the words, “Well, I was 8-years-old in 1975 and that was the year I fell in love with baseball,” about 200 times. I’m exhausted, and sick of myself, and there’s no end in sight.
Yes, some dare call it justice.
Though, I will point out that the book is 112 on Amazon, and it’s all right with me.
Circle me, Little Joe.
You should take over Deadspin.com for a day, like FireJoeMorgan did today to promote “Parks and Recreation”.
Pavement is reuniting.
Shazam!
You need one of those talking computer dealies like Stephen Hawking has.
The FJM reunion was great, but ended in a huge letdown…no JoeChat? Weak.
What, Joe??
Was Schur too busy trying to suck the very life out of Mike Celizic’s being via the internets to work in a Machine reference??
He didn’t even get in an Infinite Jest ref either, so I guess it must’ve been a pretty busy day in hater-land after all…
Circle Me, VORP!!
@Gregory #3: Shazam, indeed.
As you were…
#3, #7 –
Bring on the Major Leagues.
Extremely exciting news.
My local Barnes & Noble still doesn’t have it.
#1 in the baseball history category on amazon…
…bouncing off the satellites, indeed.
Hang in, JP. It’s always an occasion when excellent writers publish.
Yeah, the two stores I have been to haven’t stocked it yet either. This is New Orleans though, I am sometimes surprised when the Saints games actually make it on Sundays…
Maybe you can get on Oprah…
The fact you used a Springsteen lyric in your title tells me there is hope for you yet!
