Just a quick update: I have heard from many wonderful BRs who pre-ordered The Machine from Amazon and have received a notice saying that the shipping of the book has been delayed.

Well, not to go into too many details because that would bore you silly, but nothing has really changed. You should still get your book right around 09/09/09. Book release dates, apparently, are quite flexible … or anyway MY book release date is quite flexible. Book dates are not set like movie release dates, you know, unless they are impossibly popular books like the seventh Harry Potter book.

My editor calls it a “soft” release date, meaning (apparently) that it will not take the ball to the basket.

So, while the release date was listed as mid-August for a while on Amazon and still is listed there on Barnes & Noble, the truth is that the book should come out right around 09/09/09 — maybe a few days earlier, maybe a few days later, but generally speaking, it’s still 09/09/09.

Maybe amazon’s delaying our copies due to havy demand?

I’m quite sure the book would take the ball to the basket, as well as make the tough catch over the middle and gut it out with less than its best stuff.
