Yes, it’s a newspaper point of view, which is why I posted it here. But it is still Bill James.

Bill has a very cogent point. People still have a desire to write, and for journalism. The culture and media are just changing, along with how we interpret these things. People don’t need newspapers, they just filled a void. They need journalism.
I’m okay with what Mr. James says here. In fact, I like the idea about how all of the things in our lives are evolving, changing, albeit often very slowly, to the point that we hardly notice until we look back a decade or more and recognize the differences. Look at yourself in a mirror today and compare that image to one of you just 10 years ago. If you know an elderly person look at a photo of them from maybe when they were a pre-teen and see if you can even recognize them. Same with newspapers – They are dying before our very eyes!
Joe – Congrats on the Mizzou win. I guess you get to stay in Phoenix/Glendale a few more days and soak up the warmth while flipping your quarter.
Would you care to speak (blog, I guess, or write in the Star) about the atmosphere/sight lines of watching basketball games in the footbal stadiun in Glendale? A friend of mine saw a game early in the season there (I guess it was a basketball test-run for the facility) and he was not at all impressed and he’s been to other large stadiums that have hosted NCAA basketball tourney games.
Yeah, what’s up with playing these NCAA games in U. of Phoenix Stadium? There’s a brand new NBA arena right across the parking lot and no games scheduled this whole week.
The stadium looks beyond awful on television.
Re the big arena: I think they were auditioning for future Final Fours – which have since been awarded for about the next 6-7 years without Phoenix in the mix.
Last year’s West regional was in Phoenix, but at the Suns’ arena.
Look, I know that this is the wrong place to make you aware of this but this is information that any infomercial fan needs to know.
