Haiku Preview: AL East …

Posted: March 4th, 2008 | Filed under: Baseball | 30 Comments »

Well, I want to thank the people over at Me And Pedro for asking me to do a Royals Haiku for their Web site. Now, I can’t stop thinking Haiku. Well, with that in my I now begin baseball previews with the American League East and Haikus. I’m thinking we’ll switch up our poetry form with each division — maybe I’ll do couplets for the American League Central, then maybe limericks for the American League West, maybe Cinquains for the National League East … we’ll see how it goes. I’m a bit concerned about doing epic poems for the National League Central. Not sure I have that many rhymes about Ronny Paulino.

* * *

American League East

1. Boston Red Sox.

Things looking Upton.

4. Toronto Blue Jays

Skyrocketed with Eckstein
McGowan is key

5. Baltimore Orioles

    Using poetry to
    Write your pre-season previews?
    That’s very noble.

    Why not try using
    Iambic pentameter
    For NL Central?

    Don’t like the Red Sox
    after the ALCS
    But they’ll dominate

  26. 26: Chuck said at 4:21 pm on March 5th, 2008:

    Haiku! What a thrill!
    Making my thoughts fit into
    Three ignoble lines.

    Yankees-Sox; who cares?
    I no longer want to watch
    Godzillas at war.

    Jays and Rays have hope,
    Maybe not this year, but soon;
    Orioles kaput.
