OK, so I’m writing daily blogs for The Kansas City Star while I’m here in Japan, which figures to cut into my blogging here. How many blogs, after all, can one man write?
Meanwhile, Boston just went up 5-0 on the Rockies in Game 3. I’m watching it with Japanese announcers, and my body is so sleep-depravated that they are making sense to me. More sense, anyway, than those TNT announcers.

No kidding. Early in the game when Manny was called out at the plate McCarver said it was a bad call. Just a few innings later he was saying it was a good call (after seeing some quality slow motion replays), with absolutely no reference to his earlier, opposite opinion.
I mean, I know we Americans have no sense of history, but come on.

No TNT now, just pure unadulterated FOX.

Other bits of advice.
If you are buying team clothing as souvenirs for adults, the largest size in Japan is usually labeled as “F” for “free size” aka “one size fits all.” These actually are pretty big and the shirts will fit someone unless they are very … rotund.
Souvenir baseball caps are almost all adjustable. A fitted cap is rare.
All the different things that make noise are always described as “megaphones” to me even if they don’t remotely resemble a megaphone.

The blogs at the Star are fantastic, Joe. I’ve been searching fruitlessly for more information about how the Japan Series is going, and well…you’re all I have! Keep up the good work, don’t eat anything too scary, and go Fighters!
